Liverpool defender Joe Gomez said he was enthusiastic ahead of this season's Champions League final. Gomez insists his team must do everything they can to secure the Round Ear trophy at the end of the season.

Liverpool are certain to be Champions League finalists this season. They managed to beat Barcelona dramatically in the semi-finals, so they got a ticket to Wanda Metropolitano on June 2, 2019.

This is Liverpool's second final in the last two years. Last year their ambition to win the Champions League had to run aground in the hands of Real Madrid who beat them in Kiev.

Gomez admitted he could not wait to play in the Champions League final this season. "I knew from the start that we would play again in this Final," Gomez opened to Liverpool's official website.

Forget the past

Gomez believes that his team will not be burdened by defeat in Kiev in the final this time. Gomez revealed that his team this time had grown rapidly and was better prepared to face this final.

"I think you can see our performance this year and you can see that our development this season is very massive."

"Managers have shown that we are a different team now, so we shouldn't think that we are the same team as last year."

Must Win

Gomez also called his team really enthusiastic about preparing for this match because they were eager to close the season with a Champions League trophy.

"This is the Champions League final and we have to carry out the same mentality in this match."
